Our Vision

As the world moves toward a greener economy, with the electrification of vehicles leading the way, the demand for materials critical to green energy storage and consumption is greater than the available supply. High quality, large flake graphite is one of those key materials, and we seek to become the premier North American source of that graphite as part of the shift towards renewable, sustainable energy solutions.

Our Values

At Focus we believe that:

  • We all must adopt renewable, sustainable energy solutions to preserve our planet.
  • Mining and processing the minerals that are critical to the production of green energy solutions can be achieved in a responsible way that protects the environment and makes use of sources of clean energy.
  • People – be they our employees, clients, or members of the communities in which we operate – are the most important factor in our success. We are open and honest with all our stakeholders.

Our Mission

Focus Graphite will supply large, medium, fine, and superfine grade graphite products for the clean energy technology economy as the world adopts measures to reduce carbon emissions – a key contributor to global warming.

Graphite – like lithium and cobalt – is a key strategic component of batteries for electric vehicles, energy storage, photovoltaics, and consumer electronics from smartphones to laptops. Most of the world’s high-quality graphite today comes from China, and graphite is not being produced in the United States. Our graphite properties, located in Quebec, Canada, boast some of the highest-grade graphite flake deposits in the world.

EV

We are set to provide a steady, secure supply of graphite to feed the clean energy revolution.

About Focus Graphite

Focus Graphite Inc., formerly known as Focus Metals, was listed on the TSX-Venture Exchange in May 2010 under the symbol FMS:V when it acquired the Lac Knife graphite property, located on the Quebec-Labrador border, from IAMGOLD Corporation. Tests and samples taken from Lac Knife indicate that it offers some of the highest-grade graphite flake deposits in the world.

As the potential of graphite and its applications for green energy technology continued to develop, Focus concentrated its acquisitions strategy on the addition of secondary graphite properties to its Lac Knife flagship project. In 2012, it acquired the Lac Tétépisca and Lac Guinécourt properties in Quebec for further development.

Focus’ graphite properties are located in Quebec, a jurisdiction that’s among the most favourable towards mining development, particularly of projects that seek to mine critical and battery minerals such as graphite. The Quebec government views itself as a partner in the development of these resources, and the province’s extensive power and transportation infrastructure eases the costs associated with development.

Focus Metals became Focus Graphite in May 2012, selecting a name that better reflected its core business. In 2014, Focus commissioned Met-Chem Canada Inc. (now part of DRA Global Americas) to complete a feasibility study (FS) for the Lac Knife Project, the results of which were positive and indicated a strong return on investment.

Further exploration and testing over the subsequent years indicated that the high-quality graphite found at Lac Knife would make it an excellent source for multiple technology and energy applications.

An environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) study for Lac Knife, conducted by IOS Services Géoscientifiques Inc. (IOS) of Saguenay, Québec, is currently underway. Focus has also commissioned global Engineering firm DRA Americas Inc. (DRA) to update its 2014 feasibility study for the Lac Knife project and prepare a new technical report in accordance with the Canadian Securities Administrators’ National Instrument (NI) 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects.

Today, Focus Graphite is well-positioned to supply large, medium, fine, and superfine grade graphite products for a clean energy technology economy as the world adopts measures to reduce carbon emissions – a key contributor to global warming.
